PAPER USED IN MAKING WORKS
To make the paper used in Canal Paper Pads, Saint-Armand uses left-over fibres from clothing industry offcuts (white tee-shirts, blue denim) and flax straw from farmers. The paper is then created by mixing the beaten straw or fibres with rags, and the colour of the paper is determined according to the colour of the rags. Fibres are not bleached or cooked, but rather simply mixed with the rags: a good, ecological choice. The heat of paper machine dryers shrinks the fibres and gives this paper an interesting, rough texture. A quality paper made on Saint-Armand's Fourdrinier machine.
